January
Through funding from the Perry Mark Williams Memorial Fund, we provided 21 shopping carts overflowing with fresh groceries to Shelton Park Elementary’s military families in need.
Once Upon A Child donated 24 bags of clothing for our Elementary Students.
February
Two families were provided with essential groceries as they were dealing with life threatening illnesses.
A devastating fire broke out at Emerald Point Apartments, displacing two families who we were able to help with clothing, shoes, and food.
Book Exchange hosted a Charity Book Sale Fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting us.
March
We presented our 2nd annual event for 575 Franklin elementary students, at our SPRING FLING event with our partners, Old Dominion University Community Care, Franklin City Public Schools, Early Childhood Western Tidewater, Obici Healthcare Foundation, Food Lion and 14 Community Resource Agencies.
Kickoff Meeting to plan our 15th year of producing Jump Start with VB Schools, an empowering collaboration to support over 500 homeless/high needs students through the help of 262 volunteers, 100 employees from Food Lion, 45 Corporate, Nonprofit and Church partners, 37 Social Workers, 20 resource partners and a very busy all-volunteer Board of 7.
April
Partnered with Operation Smile Clubs to provide essential groceries for a week to 13 local families struggling with food insecurity.
Delivered travel-sized hygiene essentials, to our partner agency, PiN Ministry.
Attended the Charity Bowl presented by Priority Automotive Charities, a major sponsor of Jump Start.
Great Clips confirmed donating a day of work to provide haircuts for 550 homeless and high-needs students at Jump Start.
Presented “Jump Start” to the attendees at Sentara’s annual Auxiliary Fashion Show.
May
We sponsored a family who recently lost all their belongings in a house fire.
The annual Ascent Church “Serve Day” brought a team of volunteers to our warehouse to begin clothing inventory for this year’s Jump Start.
June
Our founding church partner, Forefront created the “Bare Necessities Project” to accept donations of socks and intimates for 220 school-aged kids.
Wasserhund Brewing Company VB, where we held one of our first fundraisers, hosted a Music BINGO fundraiser to benefit us.
Special Project Manager, Ramona Chandler, has been nominated by WTKR News 3 as the “Humanitarian of the Year”.
TC Energy’s Social Impact team approved our initiative, to provide a week’s worth of groceries for 100 local families through our Families 4 Families program.
New partner, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles generously sponsored brand new shoes for 30 VBCPS high needs and homeless students, enabling them to put their best foot forward.
The Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation made a very generous donation at the request of the Haught Family.
Christ’s Fellowship lent their strength to assist in purchasing 20 fresh bundles of groceries for Victory Elementary’s families in need.
July
Beach Beacon Baptist Church coordinated a month-long campaign to help us achieve our goal of empowering 76 homeless students in VBSchools with a brand-new pair of back-to-school shoes plus many new outfits.
We were able to assist a bedridden father with upcoming surgery for a leg amputation by providing his children with much needed back to school essentials thanks to the generosity of our monthly donors.
To prepare our warehouse for Jump Start load-up, Ascent Church sent a team of volunteers to lend a hand.
Nine area Chick-fil-A stores confirmed 800 hot sandwiches for hungry families at Jump Start.
Food Lion, our largest sponsor with theDone most substantial team of Jump Start volunteers, committed to donating student food totes, family gift cards, hospitality areas, and coordination of donations from UNILEVER, Colgate, Kellogg, UTZ and Pepsi.
Several Board Members along our partner church, Forefront, raised all the funding to build a house in a week for a family in need.
August
The 15th annual Jump Start provided over 500 homeless and high-needs students with bookbags, school supplies, clothing, groceries, haircuts, new shoes, hygiene products, health screenings, resources, and fifteen other stations, to help them start on an equal footing for the new school year.
September
United Way of South Hampton Roads approved our participation, enabling our inclusion in their Combined Charities Campaign.
October
Our new church partner, Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, gifted us a grant to enhance community well-being by supporting vulnerable neighbors with food assistance.
Cape Henry Rotary's Annual Sold-out Oyster Crush at Ballyhoos benefitted our mission.
An emergency request was received to assist hungry military families, prompting swift action: a VBSchools social worker connected with the families, Team Food Lion ordered and bagged 20 bundles of groceries, and the event was funded by the Perry Mark Williams Memorial Fund.
The 2nd annual Haunts and Hallows 13.1 Mile Race presented by Winding Way Run Company took place at First Landing State Park with AIDNOW being their charity partner.
Ascent Church’s team of volunteers organized, sorted, purged and inventoried our warehouse.
November
A highly successful golf outing by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church assisted our year-end fundraising efforts.
Selected as the beneficiary of the Priority Lexus Champions for Charity Golf Tournament held at VB National.
Wycliffe Presbyterian Church, our newest church partner, made a generous donation to support the 2026 Jump Start initiative.
Congratulations to Board Member and Food Lion Store Manager Maria Bowman on her national recognition as one of the “Top Women in Grocery for 2025”.
Papa John’s Pizza of Hampton Roads announced an annual grant to help serve our community even better in 2026.
Connected a Virginia Beach student who was self-conscious about his appearance with Barber, Jakeem Wilson, who went to the student’s home to provide the transformation.
The Veterans Day “Military Families 4 Families” event blessed 20 families with a week’s worth of groceries thanks to our generous sponsor, The Perry Mark Williams Memorial Fund.
Celebrated the generous spirit and local efforts of our donors, the Noblemen, at their 30th anniversary gala at MOCA.
The19th Annual Birdneck Community BBQ Charity event presented by the Steven’s family, raised thousands for our holiday projects.
Selected as the beneficiary of The Goddard School annual art auction.
Along with Forefront Church, we participate in the Mayflower Marathon as part of the 700 volunteers on site to assist the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
December
We delivered a complete holiday dinner to 15 families, who have a child in hospice.
Along with VB Schools Social Workers, designed the inaugural 'A Christmas to Remember' initiative, with our sponsor Community Partner Group Foundation for children in need. The evening featured holiday music, new pajamas, face painters, 80 stockings, 80 wrapped gifts, and 50 family bundles of groceries and of course, Santa!
Thank you for being such a vital part of our mission. Through your generosity, service, and faithfulness, families in need experienced hope, care, and love in meaningful ways.
